Building intentional communities – united in solidarity, resilient and politically active in times of multiple crises

The communes are and have been seen by many activists as a real-utopian attempt at a more equal, low-hierarchical and self-determined life within the current social relations of domination. Political communes have tried out, developed and established alternative economic, interpersonal and often also ecologically more sustainable forms of living. An often difficult endeavour within existing power structures, but nevertheless extremely rewarding, instructive and often stable in the long term.
The current and future escalation of crises and conflicts make collective life plans more necessary than ever. The realisation of individual happiness is just as much in question as minimum social security and a minimum of peaceful coexistence. In this workshop, we want to show why a life in a political community can lead us more resiliently through the crises. Furthermore, we would like to think together about opportunities to make communes an attractive way of life for even more people.
