The term intersectionality was coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw and recognizes that different forms of discrimination can occur simultaneously, creating patterns of experience and disadvantage that go beyond the mere sum of their individual parts. As a concept, intersectionality addresses forms of oppression, their consequences for those affected, and possibilities for taking action against discrimination.
We think that an intersectional perspective on social and global processes is necessary in order to understand them and to move toward our utopian goals:
good living conditions and equal rights and opportunities for all people worldwide, the prevention of suffering for humans and animals, as well as
the protection of our global foundations of life from destruction.
