We assume that we (like all people) can only pursue a satisfactory level of awareness and empathy regarding the life realities of people in different positions as a utopia, which gives us motivation and direction, as it is impossible to fully attain it.
Thus, we strive to continuously expand our horizons, orientations, and ability to empathize. We want to find better forms of social interaction, without getting someone down or abandoning each other in the process, or turning a blind eye.
Directly participating in the (lived) experiences of others, which allows us to empathize with them, and from which we cannot comfortably and unnoticed turn away in our shared life and mutual responsibilities, helps us in this.
Furthermore, this is what makes the community truly meaningful and effective: We share our realities, make them accessible to each other, and then we can complement and advance each other with our different strengths, resources, opportunities, etc.* Moreover, this shared broader perspective helps us to gain a clearer understanding of where we want to focus our political engagement at group level.
Of course, this also means we must plan for more resources to handle injuries, conflicts, and changes that may initially fall outside our comfort zone. It will feel exhausting… but it will move us forward!
And we really want to move forward, in this world where more and more feels like failure and disaster!
